These ‘Pesky Mites’ never seem to be too far away, and are the
curse of every parent, teacher or child who has experienced them.

Here are some quick tips for successfully treating head lice and breaking the cycle of re-infestation.

1. Only use reputable: modern treatment products sold in chemists or some hairdressing salons.
2. Apply the treatment shampoo/foam to dry hair for better concentration and contact time.
3. Treat other members of the family, as well as the infested child’s close friends - all should be treated on the same day - and remember to re-treat 5-7 days later.
4. You must comb the hair with a fine tooth comb after treatment - and with a keen eye check each individual strand of hair. You may also need to ‘clean’ each strand of hair, sliding with your fingernails.
5. Bed linen, hats, hair brushes etc need only be washed in warm, soapy water or normal washing cycle.
6. Please be advised that, by law, a hairdressing salon is unable to attend to any person with head lice.
7. We advise the children wear their hair ‘slicked’ up or even braided to school.
8. Lots of patience is needed with the process.
